Dawn of the Dead Marvins
A Movie Marvin Sketch
by Timothy Meinke
Movie Marvin D. Usher
Marvin is a nerdish man of indeterminate age with an overactive imagination. His trademarks are a tuxedo, red bowtie and red Converse high-tops. He is employed at a movie theatre as an usher. The skits featuring Marvin will be mostly daydreams taking place inside his head. Ideally, every Movie Marvin skit will begin with Marvin at work seeing or hearing something that draws him into his fantasy world. The fantasy scenes would end as a film jamming, burning and then breaking when an outside factor intrudes on his dream world. No matter where or what his imagination takes him, he will always be wearing the red bowtie. His presence at a movie theatre opens up a world of possibilities for movie spoofs.
The screenwriter has connections to three Twin Cities movie theatres.
