FADE IN
INT. LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

HUSBAND and WIFE are seated on a couch. Wife is reading a magazine.
Husband has his feet up, is resting a bowl of chips on his stomach and is holding a TV remote.
In front of them is a coffee table with a cup and saucer on her side and a beer on his side.
Husband is staring straight ahead. We can see from the flickering light on their faces that the
Husband is watching television. The TV is out of frame. We hear TV audio indicating dramatic
action is occurring: gunfire, squealing tires, explosion, etc. Husband's face remains expressionless
throughout. There follows a commercial break on the TV.

VOICE ON TV
Ahead on the ten o'clock news, living wills -- don't be caught dead without one.
Plus, a change in the weather is in the forecast. And, could Texas Hold 'em really become an
Olympic event? Stay tuned. . . .

Husband finally moves by clicking the mute on the remote. He continues to stare at the camera/TV.

HUSBAND
Just so you know, Dear, I never want to live in a vegetative state dependent on some machine.
If that ever happens, just pull the plug.

Wife stops her reading, looks over to the Husband for a few moments, then puts down the magazine.
She rises, walks toward the TV and out of frame. We hear the sound of a cord being unplugged from the wall.
The reflected TV light goes dark. Wife walks back to the coffee table, picks up the cup and saucer and walks away.
Husband remains motionless but looks confused.
