SCENE ONE
EXT. CITY SIDEWALK, DAYTIME

Mrs. Donovan was walking down the street when she meets Father Rafferty walking from the other direction.

FATHER RAFFERTY
Top o' the mornin' to ye! Aren't ye Mrs. Donovan and didn't I marry ye and yer husband two years ago?

MRS. DONOVAN
Aye, that ye did, Father.

FATHER RAFFERTY
And be there any wee ones yet?

MRS. DONOVAN
No, not yet, Father. In fact, the doctor is a mite uncertain that we will ever have babies.

FATHER RAFFERTY
Aw, 'tis a pity.
(beat)
Wait now, I've an idea. I'm going to Rome next week and I'll light a candle
for ye and yer husband. We can pray for a miracle.

MRS. DONOVAN
Oh, thank ye, Father, thank ye.
They part ways.

SCENE TWO
EXT. SIDEWALK, DAYLIGHT

Several years have elapsed. Mrs. Donovan and Father Rafferty meet again on the sidewalk.

FATHER RAFFERTY
Well now, Mrs. Donovan, how are ye these days?

MRS. DONOVAN
Oh, very well, Father.

FATHER RAFFERTY
And tell me, have ye any wee ones yet?

MRS. DONOVAN
Oh yes, Father! Three sets of twins and four singles, ten in all!

FATHER RAFFERTY
That's wonderful! How is yer loving husband doing?

MRS. DONOVAN
'E's gone to Rome to blow out yer daggum candle.
